Soomin Kim

Soomin Kim is a Senior Data Scientist at Sony Music, where she drives machine learning initiatives focused on global streaming behavior and social engagement to inform artist strategy. A former internationally acclaimed classical singer and winner of the NZ Aria Competition, NZ Opera Idol, and Dartmouth’s Macdonald-Smith Prize, she shares music on YouTube with over 2.6 million views and brings both artistic and technical perspectives to innovation at the intersection of music and AI. Why they judge: I’m excited to judge the Make-A-Thon because it brings together my two biggest passions: music and technology. As both a musician and a data scientist, I’m interested in how technology can augment creative expression while preserving the human artistry of performance. I look forward to evaluating projects through both lenses while championing responsible AI that empowers creativity and respects creators’ rights.
